  NANCY BURFIEND   Principal   Nancy Burfiend received her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Interior Design from the University of Washington, before establishing NB Design Group in 1988. She is NCIDQ-certified, and is a member of ASID and IIDA. In 2015, Nancy was named as the IIDA INawards Professional Honoree for her significant contributions to the profession of interior design.  Nancy's broad range of experience includes high-end residential, commercial, and public sector projects. She has received numerous design awards. Among the most recent is first place at the Northwest Design Awards 2015 for Whole House Design and first place at the IIDA INawards 2014 for Design IN Home. She has been published in Interiors, Metropolitan Home, LUXE Pacific Northwest, Seattle Homes and Lifestyle, Kitchen Trends and the international publication Renovation Style and Decor.

  ELIZABETH MARCOUX   Accounting Manager   Elizabeth Marcoux joined NB Design Group in 2013, and is primarily responsible for business functions. Working in the design industry is a second career after a previous career as a portfolio manager in the investment management industry. Her appreciation of design was reflected earlier in life as an Art History major at Smith College, and she is thrilled to be able to be around beauty while working on the financial side of the business.

  JAMES FUNG   Partner  l  Designer   James Fung received his Bachelor of Arts in Architecture from the University of Washington and completed his post-bachelor program in Interior Design at the New York School of Interior Design in Manhattan. Prior to joining NB Design Group, James was a part of a boutique design firm in New York City specializing in high-end residential and small-scale retail design for several high profile clients. From penthouse city apartments and country estates to private aviation and yacht interiors, James’ work has been featured in Architectural Digest, Elle Decor, Luxe, and The New York Times.   James's interdisciplinary approach to design has also allowed him to collaborate with notable Seattle designers and craftsmen on all aspects of the built environment including custom fabric and furniture collections.

Partner l Designer

James Fung received his Bachelor of Arts in Architecture from the University of Washington and completed his post-bachelor program in Interior Design at the New York School of Interior Design in Manhattan. Prior to joining NB Design Group, James was a part of a boutique design firm in New York City specializing in high-end residential and small-scale retail design for several high profile clients. From penthouse city apartments and country estates to private aviation and yacht interiors, James’ work has been featured in Architectural Digest, Elle Decor, Luxe, and The New York Times.

James's interdisciplinary approach to design has also allowed him to collaborate with notable Seattle designers and craftsmen on all aspects of the built environment including custom fabric and furniture collections.

  MARY SHOOK   Purchasing Manager   Mary Shook, a Colorado native that grew up in Arizona, moved to Seattle ten years ago and found a home among the evergreens. Mary Shook, a Colorado native that grew up in Arizona, moved to Seattle ten years ago and found a home among the evergreens. She graduated from Seattle University with a Bachelor or Fine Arts in Photography and a Bachelor of Arts in Design.   CHLOE LYNN   Design Assistant   Chloe’s passion and appreciation for design stems from her upbringing, and has developed into a perpetual learning experience at NBDG. Her love of design is comprehensive, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in Art History and Religion from the University of Oregon, and eventually receiving a degree in interior design from the Art Institute of Portland. During her time in school, Chloe further developed her instincts, skill set and overall perspective. She believes that good design is created out of an intimate understanding of place and consideration for the human experience. Valuing collaboration and a balance between function and creative content, Chloe has found her place at NBDG.

Tori discovered her passion for interior design through her Scandinavian heritage and was gripped by the design aesthetics and principles found there. Her love of adventure and inspiration has taken her abroad; studying art history in Italy and traveling throughout Europe and Africa. Experiencing many cultures have shaped her approach and appreciation of design.
