Transforming a raw, 6,900 square foot concrete shell into a cocoon-like haven in the city was the challenge set forth by Vida Wellness Spa; with a portfolio of quality hospitality and commercial interior design in Seattle, NB Design Group was up for the challenge. Guided by Vida’s Eastern philosophy of healing and environmental responsibility, NB Design Group created the design and materials palette with these principles in mind. The spatial layout, finishes and design features of the spa provide a warm, quiet and intimate setting to allow for complete sensory relaxation. The Ayurvedic philosophy based on the five identifying elements: water, earth, fire and wood are incorporated into the design to engage all the senses and deepen the connection between guests and their environment. Warm bamboo floors underfoot invite guests to relax in the spa’s lounge where chiseled limestone walls surround a Montigo fireplace spanning ten feet. Known for their healing properties in the practice of aromatherapy, panels woven of sustainable Vetiver grass form suspended decorative screens in the lounge. Individual treatment rooms allow guests the personal space to relax and heal while other adjoining rooms allow for physical and emotional connection. At the close of the project, the interior was transformed from a blank canvas into a restful retreat under the discerning eye of Seattle interior designers, NB Design Group.
